Cool.

That's really thoughtful of you to let him practice his moves.

pulling up carpet took four hours?

Protip: leave the tack strips. those dicks charge for silly shit like that.

   By gogirltravel 7 months ago
leave them? really?
    By milesOToole 7 months ago
yeah, because think about it--carpet places are used to competing on carpet, so the prices for carpet will be lower. but they nickel and dime you on silly crap like tackstrips, which, frankly, they can charge you ANYTHING for. they could get as much as 30 bucks a room for that silly crap, and it's pure profit. plus, 30 bucks x 4 rooms, you do da maff. that's like, 150 bucks

it took four hours because I didn't remove the furniture. It's too muddy outside and I needed the garage space to store the old carpet and padding until I can get the trash guys out here for special pick up.

getting new carpet, or doing something more avant garde, like concrete or hardwood flooring?
     By gogirltravel 7 months ago
lol @ concrete.

I'm putting in hardwood floors.

putting them in yourself, or having them put in?
       By gogirltravel 7 months ago
I'm going to do it myself.

Wow - great job! If replacing, yes, leave the tack strips. Otherwise try to get them out. The more work you leave for whomever does the next step, the more $$$ it gets. I just ripped the carpet out of a 4br house - not sure it took too much longer than an hour if even that, but the house was empty. It took much longer to bag the carpet up in tarsh bags - no dumpster and I wanted to ensure they took it away.

All I know is I'm really tired, and I'm now sitting here eating a bowl of clam chowder and drinking an ice cold Foster's, and playing with the sound echos in an uninsulated room.

I should have been clearer--leave the tack strips if you're putting new carpet in. otherwise, yank 'em if you're puttin gin hardwood.
